It’s almost 2017, and with the New Year comes a New Year’s Resolution! Have you thought about making a resolution this year? Exercise and eating well are admirable ones (and certainly things that we encourage!), but we have another suggestion, too. This year, why not consider making a resolution to help kids with cancer live better lives? Read on to learn how you can make this happen!
Visit Children’s Cancer Centers
Children with cancer are usually treated in specialized pediatric cancer centers. While the staff does a great job of entertaining the kids and giving them as many fun activities as possible, it’s always helpful for visitors to come and spread a little cheer!
If you’re not sure how to go about doing this, look up your nearest pediatric cancer center and give them a call. They’ll be happy to give you all the details you need on visiting hours, guidelines, and parking.
Pack a New Year’s Basket for a Family
Most people give gifts over Christmas, but then once the New Year hits, they stop! Surprise the family of a pediatric cancer patient with a New Year’s basket – foods that the child will enjoy, magazines and books, DVDs, and even some gift cards.
More than anything, showing these families that you are thinking about them will mean so much. Patient families often feel alone during the treatment and recovery process, and knowing that you’re in their corner will help relieve some of their isolation.
Donate to aTeam Ministries
Want to make a New Year’s Resolution to help kids with cancer, but feel like you don’t have the time or understanding to do it well? Don’t worry – aTeam is here to help! When you donate to our ministry, you are helping us support patient families whose kids are going through cancer treatment and recovery. There are lots of ways to donate – not just cash!
In 2017, choose a resolution that really counts. Make a difference in a pediatric cancer patient’s life. Love on these families. You’ll be so happy you did!
