“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV84)

The inception of Heart2HeART is a picture of how seemingly random occurrences are actually a part of the Creator’s masterful plan to bring about good for so many who are trudging through the pain that often accompanies “all things”.

In May of 2009, Andy and Jan Thrower initiated and helped organize a visit by Auburn’s football Coach, Gene Chizik and his wife, Jonna, to the oncology clinic at Children’s Hospital of Alabama. This visit was the beginning of a special friendship between the Chiziks and Throwers. During a hospital visit almost exactly a year later, Jonna Chizik received a painting from a young cancer patient, and she had an idea to help benefit the work of her friends through the newly-formed aTeam Ministries. And thus, the story began of how God brought an Auburn fan, a football coach, his wife, and a painting together to minister for the good of others in His name through Heart2HeART.

The need to encourage and support families affected by pediatric cancer is a constant one. The Throwers learned first-hand about the struggles of pediatric cancer. Based on 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, they believe they have been entrusted to comfort others who are struggling with similar circumstances. God has created a beautiful work of art in bringing Heart2HeART to life as a way to continue His work for the good of others through aTeam Ministries.
