aTeam Ministries was founded by Jan and Andy Thrower after they personally experienced the emotional challenges of having a child diagnosed with cancer. Their son, Anderson, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on January 6, 2009, at just 16 months old. Throughout Anderson’s treatment, which included monthly chemotherapy injections, weekly lab work, and daily oral medications, the Throwers began to look beyond their own struggles and recognized the needs of other families going through similar challenges.
This compassion led to the creation of aTeam Ministries, which is driven by a dedicated group of supporters, led by the Throwers, to provide vital support to families facing pediatric oncology or hematology-related diseases.
Though the Throwers still witness firsthand the emotional rollercoaster of childhood cancer, they are now in a position to offer crucial assistance to those in need. Anderson, thanks to the incredible care from Children’s of Alabama, is doing well and successfully completed his three years of treatment in March 2012.
