aTeam Ministries was founded by Jan and Andy Thrower after experiencing firsthand the emotions of having a child diagnosed with cancer. The Throwers’ son, Anderson, was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on January 6th of 2009 at only 16 months of age. It was during Anderson’s initial treatments, experiencing monthly chemo injections, weekly lab work, and daily oral treatments, that the Throwers began to see past themselves and into the needs of others in similar situations. As a result of this compassion aTeam Ministries was created by a core group of supporters, led by the Throwers, to provide frontline support to families going through pediatric oncology or hematology-related diseases. The Throwers still see firsthand the emotions that come along with childhood cancer, but they now can give those going through the journey the support they deserve. Anderson, through the outstanding care of Children’s Hospital of Alabama, is doing very well and will successfully complete his three years of treatment in March 2012.
We are a team of volunteers that just want to help show God’s love and compassion as families experience this unexpected journey. If there is any way we can help you, your family, or friends of yours through this journey, please give us a call or send us an e-mail. You can also join our team on Facebook as well.
Our prayers are with you during this journey, but always know aTeam Ministries is available to help!
