Financial

Pediatric cancer treatment can lead to great financial stress through medical bills, transportation to and from the hospital, loss of work due to treatment schedules, and need for extended lodging away from home. aTeam seeks to alleviate any financial pressure that often comes with pediatric cancer treatment.

Christmas Sponsorships

During the holiday season, volunteers and community groups “adopt” families battling pediatric cancer. Sponsors provide Christmas gifts and additional seasonal cheer to ease the financial pressure for parents working to make Christmas special for their child diagnosed with pediatric cancer and his/her siblings.

Home Away from Home

Families from all over Alabama travel hours to Birmingham for treatment. aTeam’s Home Away from Home program consists of two apartments with close proximity to Children’s of Alabama that provide extended lodging to families battling pediatric cancer: rent-free. These private apartments are specifically cleaned, furnished, and maintained for children undergoing treatment.

How Can We Help? Financial Grants

aTeam extends grants to families in critical financial need, providing financial grants as direct-to-vendor payments, such as paying a bill directly to the utility company. Individual families are able to receive up to $1,000 of assistance each year.

aTeam College Scholarship

aTeam Ministries is excited to begin a new scholarship program for childhood cancer survivors. A one-time $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a survivor to help offset the cost of the college experience. While this is a new program in 2021, we hope to expand the scholarship award to also include a sibling of a pediatric cancer patient in the future.
