aTeam brings together volunteers and families battling pediatric cancer through our aConnect program. Through different opportunities, families are able to meet each other in order to build a community of support in both Birmingham and across the state of Alabama. Additionally, aConnect brings volunteers alongside pediatric cancer families to lovingly provide for their needs. Volunteers prepare meals and participate in special events with pediatric cancer families to let them know they are not alone.
Day at the Game
Often with generously gifted or donated tickets, our Day at the Game program arranges for a child and his/her parent to enjoy regional sporting events and even interact with players, coaches, or others when possible. Let’s hear a “Go Barons!” “War Eagle!” or “Roll Tide!”
Written for birthdays, holidays, or just for a simple pick-me-up, aTeam volunteers write hundreds of cards for pediatric cancer patients each year! Our Encouragement Card program reminds families and patients battling pediatric cancer that they have a community of support at their fingertips and that they are not alone.
